Liverpool have opened talks with Stoke City over a deal to sign goalkeeper Jack Butland, according to reports.
The Premier League champions are set to be without Alisson Becker for up to six weeks after the Brazilian suffered a shoulder injury in training.
Adrian deputised for Alisson last Sunday as Jurgen Klopp’s side were hammered 7-2 by Aston Villa.
The 33-year-old Spaniard made an early error in the defeat at Villa Park, although Klopp refused to blame him for Liverpool’s woeful performance.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Liverpool have now entered negotiations over a deal for Butland.
A domestic move for the 27-year-old is still possible as Premier League clubs can still sign players from EFL sides until Friday.
Butland has also lost his place in the team with Stoke boss Michael O’Neill opting to start Adam Davies instead.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking to get their Premier League season back on track as face Everton at Goodison park next Saturday.
