Louis Saha says Edinson Cavani will be a ‘top signing’ for Manchester United, with the striker looking set to move to Old Trafford on a two-year deal.
The 33-year-old free agent will reportedly jet into Manchester on Sunday for his medical with personal terms said to be agreed.
Cavani left Paris Saint-Germain in June after seven years at the Ligue 1 outfit, in which he netted a club-record 200 goals in 301 appearances.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer entrusted Anthony Martial to fill the No.9 role last season, with Odion Ighalo the main back-up.
Former United striker Saha backs the prolific Cavani to inspire the Red Devils and is ecstatic about the prospect of the Uruguyuan moving to Old Trafford.
‘I thought Christmas was December,’ Saha wrote in a post on his Twitter page. ‘Cavani is a top signing.
‘Goal scorer and huge source of energy inspiration. Man Utd will dominate transition cause of his work rate.’
‘For me, Cavani would be the best fit this summer,’ Saha said. ‘Cavani has a great eye for goal and his leadership would be a great asset. He has qualities that are very difficult to find on the transfer market.’
