The striker broke down in tears during his farewell press conference on Thursday as he delivered an emotional message to his former Barcelona teammates and supporters.
But Suarez also used the opportunity to fire a dig at Bartomeu, who attempted to block his transfer to Atletico as he did not want the striker to join a rival club in La Liga.
When asked by one reporter if he could blame himself for anything before his departure from Barcelona, Suarez replied, ‘me or…’, and then nodded towards Bartomeu, who was sat next to him.
Suarez then added: ‘We have to be self-critical in the Champions League. I have played with discomfort, with injuries … but I do not blame myself for anything. I am proud.
‘It is hard to accept leaving. But it is reality and it is the things that happen in the world of football.’
Suarez will now put the finishing touches on his move to Atletico after the Spanish club agreed a deal with Barcelona on Wednesday evening.
‘I have spoken with Diego [Simeone] and Antoine [Griezmann],’ said the Uruguayan.
‘He has always been fighting for the league and reflects that it is a competitive and ambitious team. I hope to achieve something important in a new team.’
