Manchester United have joined the race for promising Schakle defender Ozan Kabak, with Liverpool and RB Leipzig also showing an interest in the centre-back.
The 20-year-old is likely to be available for around £25m, with the Bundesliga side previously asking for around £40m, but reducing their asking price amid financial woes.
The Daily Mail report that the Red Devils have been alerted to the Turkey international’s progress and see him as a potential long-term partner for Harry Maguire in the heart of defence.
After making his debut for Galatasaray as an 18-year-old, the defender has already moved twice, switching to Stuttgart in January 2019, before Schalke activated a €15 million release clause in June of the same year, following the defender claiming Bundesliga Rookie of the Year in just six months.
Kabak has been a regular in the side since then and netted three goals last season from defence, attracting plenty of attention from across Europe and picking up seven caps for his country since his debut last year.
Schalke head of sport Jochen Schneider said in September that they had no plans to sell Kabak this season, although that could change by the summer or if a significant offer comes in.
‘Ozan is a great player and a wonderful person. We are delighted that he is with us. Our fans can be reassured that Ozan will not leave,’
