Manchester United are reportedly preparing a €100million swoop for in-demand Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Lookman’s impressive performances have catapulted him to the top of Europe’s transfer wish lists. His standout displays for Nigeria in the AFCON 2023 final and Atalanta’s Coppa Italia and UEFA Europa League campaigns have significantly boosted his profile.
The 27-year-old’s remarkable hat-trick in the Europa League final sealed Atalanta’s triumph, cementing his status as one of Europe’s top forwards. This was reflected in his 14th-place finish in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings.
After Paris Saint-Germain’s failed summer pursuit, Arsenal have recently expressed interest in Lookman.
However, Manchester United may pip them to the signing, with manager Ruben Amorim willing to sanction a record-breaking €100million bid.
If successful, Lookman would become the most expensive African footballer in history.
Despite working with a limited transfer budget, Amorim reportedly believes Lookman’s quality and experience will be invaluable at Old Trafford.
