Manchester United and Man City are both interested in 17-year-old Rapid Vienna forward Yusuf Demir but neither are winning the race for his signature as Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund jostle for the lead.
The teenager is already making regular appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring three league goals this season and three more in other competitions.
He made his first team debut at just 16-years-old in December 2019 and after winning caps for the Austria Under-17 and Under-21 teams, he has not been called up to the senior squad for the upcoming international break.
A left-footed forward who can play across the front three, Demir has been labelled the ‘Austrian Messi’ and the hype is real, with a string of top clubs wanting to snap him up.
Both Manchester clubs are keen, as are Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona.
Austrian publication Kronen Zeitung report that Barcelona are at the front of the queue and may be able to snap him up for around £6m.
United and City will have to make decisive and persuasive moves if they are to beat their competitors to the exciting talent.
Rapid Vienna are fully expecting Demir to leave, but they are hoping it won’t be until after his 18th birthday in June this year, because he could then sign a new deal and a significant release clause could be installed.
