Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has allayed fears that he suffered an injury on international duty for Ivory Coast, insisting that he was just fatigued.
After impressing in the League Cup for United, the 26-year-old replaced Victor Lindelof in the starting XI that suffered a 6-1 loss to Tottenham last weekend.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to sign a new partner for Harry Maguire in the summer transfer window, but a deal never materialised.
The Norwegian will now be more reliant on the centre-back, and would have been concerned when he was seen clutching the back of his right leg on the ground on the hour mark of Ivory Coast’s 1-1 draw with Belgium.
Bailly was then substituted on the 70th minute, sparking fears that he may have suffered a hamstring problem.
However, addressing his fitness on his Instagram account, the defender moved to allay any concerns.
‘Thanks for worrying about me,
but I feel perfectly fine, just fatigue,’ Bailly said.
The Red Devils have lost their opening two home games in the league for just the fifth time in the club’s history.
