Pogba has 12 months remaining on his deal at Old Trafford and talks over an extension have been slow, with the midfielder revealing before the European Championships that a ‘concrete’ proposal had not been submitted.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to keep the Frenchman but United will not break their wage structure to do so, particularly at such a time when the club’s finances are vulnerable due to the pandemic.
Paris Saint-Germain have been alerted to Pogba’s situation and they’re willing to put up cash for him this summer in order to avoid the race to sign him on a free transfer in 2022.

While United would rather not sell, Pogba remains one of their most valuable players and the club couldn’t afford to let him walk away for free in 12 months’ time.
Under those circumstances, United will be prepared to sell and the Sun claim Solskjaer has identified Bayern ace Goretzka as Pogba’s replacement.
The German’s situation at the Allianz Arena is similar to Pogba’s at Old Trafford as he too has 12 months to run on his deal at the club.
Bayern have made no secret of their desire to keep the midfielder but Goretzka has previous of leaving on free transfers, having joined Bayern from Schalke on a Bosman in 2018.
Bayern too would reluctantly agree to selling should Goretzka make it clear he has no desire to sign a new deal.
Goretzka could therefore be available for a cut-price fee and could help ease the pain of Pogba’s departure.
