Chelsea identified the left-back as an alternative to Ben Chiwell if a deal failed to materialise for the Leicester City ace and it’s clear that he has no future at Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane signed Ferland Mendy for £42m.
Luke Shaw cemented his spot as first choice left-back last term with a period of impressive performances but the injury-prone England international is likely to miss the start of the season with an injury that kept him out of the Europa League knockout stages.
With that in mind, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s keen to sign a left-back and Spanish publication Sport claim United have tabled a bid of £26.8m for Reguilon.
Real Madrid are mulling over the offer and will decide in the next few days whether to sell the defender to United or to allow him to leave on loan for a further season, when the La Liga giants would hope to sell him for a bigger fee in a year’s time.
So impressive were Reguilon’s performances on loan for Sevilla, he earned a call-up to the Spain national side and Real may feel his stock will never be higher if they’re to sell the left-back.
Solskjaer has spent £40m of his summer budget after the acquisition of Donny van de Beek from Ajax.
But the Norwegian is keen on adding more depth to his squad this summer with the addition of a left-back, a centre-back and a right midfielder.
Jadon Sancho is the club’s priority for the right wing, while Dayot Upamecano is a leading target to partner Harry Maguire.
