Manchester United are targeting Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos as an alternative to Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.
United have made Sancho their priority target but Dortmund are admant that the England international will not be sold before the transfer window closes on October 5.
Speaking on Friday, Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, said: ‘We have communicated with Manchester in the past, of course. But everything that can be said on the subject has already been said by us. That will not change in the next three days.’
United are now exploring the possibility of signing Dembele from Barcelona and are looking to sign the French winger on loan for the season.
Barcelona, however, are not willing to let Dembele leave on loan and are demanding more than United’s €50 million (£45.3m) opening offer.
According to ESPN, United are looking at Ocampos as an alternative and have made ‘extensive checks’ regarding the Argentine winger.
The report claims that Sevilla would be open to selling Ocampos to United if their €40m (£36.2m) asking price is met.
It is also claimed that United have been impressed by Ocampos’ versatility and ability to play in a variety of roles in attack.
Ocampos also played against United during Sevilla’s successful Europa League run in August.
Wolves were linked with a move for the Argentine earlier this summer.
