Mikel Arteta is overlooking the credentials of one of the best No.10s in world football and ‘London for sure’, according to the German’s fellow Arsenal outcast Matteo Guendouzi.
The France international hasn’t featured for the Gunners since June when he was involved in a fracas with Neal Maupay during a controversial defeat at Brighton.
Villarreal, Roma and Valencia all harboured an interest in signing the 21-year-old this summer but he will now look to resurrect his career at Hertha Berlin after he joined the Bundesliga club on loan on deadline day.
Ozil, meanwhile, whose last Arsenal appearance came way back in March against West Ham, sent his team-mate words of encouragement on Instagram shortly after his departure was confirmed.
‘Mi Bebee, all the best for you in Germany. Show them that you’re a great football player. Will miss you here bro.’
Guendouzi responded with words of praise for the former Real Madrid star who continues to be overlooked by Arteta, despite a severe lack of creativity in the Arsenal engine room.
He wrote: ‘Mi bebee! Thanks for you message and everything you did for me. I learned a lot with you for me you are one of the best 10 in the world and London for sure! Miss you too bro!’
Hertha will not pay a fee for Gendouzi, but will foot 100% per cent of his salary, while Arsenal have also agreed a deal worth £900,000 that will see teenage defender Omar Rekik move in the opposite direction.
Ozil, meanwhile, appears certain to remain at Arsenal and see out the remainder of his £350,000-a-week contract which is due to expire next summer.
‘Situations like these will never break me, they only make me stronger. I showed in the past that I can come back into the team and I will show it again.
‘I’ll decide when I go, not other people. I didn’t sign for two or three years, I signed for four and that should be respected by everyone.’
