Ozil remains a Gunners player, despite not appearing yet this season and being left out of the Premeir League and Europa League squads as the club try and force him out in January, with his contract expiring in the summer.
Guendouzi is also still owned by Arsenal, but he is on loan in the Bundesliga at Hertha Berlin after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta.
The Frenchman may still have a future at the Emirates, but he will have to turn his manager’s opinion round after a significant fall from grace under the Spaniard.
Whatever the politics at Arsenal, Ozil is a big fan of Guendouzi, and feels that he has a bright future despite being discarded by Arsenal this season.
‘@MatteoGuendouzi – I’m sure he will be a big football player one day!’ Ozil wrote on Twitter when asked who is the most underrated footballer he has played with.
The Frenchman’s loan club are down in 14th in the Bundesliga, with the 21-year-old netting once in the league since arriving from north London.
The youngster said last month that he needed a boost to morale by leaving Arsenal, needing to rediscover his love for the game after struggles under Arteta.
‘I needed to have fun on the pitch, to regain confidence and that’s what Hertha offers me. It really is a choice I made,’ Guendouzi told Telefoot in November.
‘In the space of two seasons I have played more than 80 games with Arsenal. When you play less, you start to think and it hurts.’
