Mikel Arteta refused to rule out the prospect of Arsenal losing Lucas Torreira and Reiss Nelson before the end of the transfer window.
Nelson has also been made available on loan and is expected to leave Arsenal before the window closes on October 5.
Torreira has trained with his Arsenal teammates this week but once again failed to make Arteta’s matchday squad on Wednesday evening as the Gunners beat Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.
And Arteta claims Torreira was left out because he is not ‘in the best possible condition’ to play.
‘I am not making decisions because players might leave or stay, it is just for the players we see every day who are in the best possible condition to compete and get us closer to winning football matches,’ said Arteta.
Asked if Torreira could be leaving Arsenal soon, Arteta replied: ‘Again, I cannot discuss any internal things.’
Arteta also praised Nelson’s display in the 2-0 victory over Brendan Rodgers’ side.
‘He played really well, I think he put in a really good performance,’ said the Arsenal boss.
But when asked if Nelson will be leaving on loan, Arteta said: ‘We don’t discuss things are happening behind closed doors, but he played really well tonight.’
