The Germany international boasted a prolific record of 95 goals in 159 games for RB Leipzig and duly earned his move to Stamford Bridge back in the summer.
But despite a promising start to life at the west London club, the goals have dried up for Werner of late.
The 24-year-old has failed to find the back of the net in his last eight games and more worryingly, spurned a multitude of major chances in the process.
Bent advised Werner to ‘calm down’ when faced with a goalscoring opportunity and suggested the striker is suffering from a lack of confidence at the moment.
‘He’s not a natural goalscorer and you can see that by his finishing,’ Bent told talkSPORT.
‘But because of his movement and his pace he’ll always get opportunities especially the way they play Chelsea.
‘He just needs to calm down in front of goal he looks like he’s snatching. He’s so worried about the finish sometimes, he’s losing track of the ball with say his touch for instance.
‘With Werner, we’ve seen he can [do it] if you look his goal in the League Cup against Spurs, that was a lovely finish. Came to him, touch out of his feet was nice and the finish was lovely.
‘Whereas right now, Werner’s probably thinking, ‘Where’s the next goal coming from?’
‘He’s panicking a little bit.’
