Mohamed Salah, a Muslim who plays for Liverpool, has stirred up controversy on social media again by posting a Christmas picture of himself with his family.
Salah, who has faced backlash for his past Christmas photos, posted a photo of his children Makka and Kayan, along with his wife Magi, smiling in matching pyjamas in front of a Christmas tree.
Although Christmas is not customarily observed in Islam, certain Muslims may decide to take part in the celebrations.
However, unlike in past years, Salah did not include a statement with this year’s photo—possibly in preparation for the criticism he may face.
Some Muslim supporters have criticized Salah for his decision to recognize Christmas.
Salah’s picture on Christmas has already received a lot of attention on social media.
Many of his supporters applauded the Egyptian star for sharing a touching moment with his loved ones, despite the anticipated criticism.
Others, however, have cited Islamic customs and principles to voice their displeasure and annoyance with Salah’s choice to celebrate Christmas.
