Former Paris Saint-Germain forward, Neymar Jr. has agreed with Cristiano Ronaldo’s claims that the Saudi Pro League is better than the French league.

Neymar, who now laces his boots for Al-Hilal, was in the books of the French Ligue 1 champions between 2017 and 2023.

While giving a speech at the Globe Soccer Awards in December, Portuguese football icon, Ronaldo claimed that the SPL is better than Ligue 1.

His comments caused an uproar, with many ex-pros, including French legend, Emmanuel Petit, countering his views.

However, in an interview with CNN Sport, Neymar Jr. backed Ronaldo’s claims.

“Today, I think it is stronger than the level of the Saudi Pro League is increasing and, from what I see, it’s better than Ligue 1.

“Ligue 1 has its positives. The league is very strong. I played in it, so I know this well. Today (though), the players in the Saudi Pro League are better.

“Saudi Arabia has surprised me in a positive way. The people, the country, the cities, the culture. I think it’s a country that’s continually growing.”

Neymar also touched on his ambition for the 2026 World Cup with Brazil and determination to return to his best form.
