Neymar is one of three Paris Saint-Germain players to have tested positive for coronavirus, according to reports in France.
But the 28-year-old is now a major doubt for PSG’s opening match against Lens on September 10, as well as their derby against Marseille on September 13.
According to L’Equipe, Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes have also tested positive for Covid-19 and are now in self-isolation.
A statement from PSG on Wednesday read: ‘Three Paris Saint-Germain players have confirmed positive Sars CoV2 tests and our subject to the appropriate health protocol.
‘All of the players and coaching staff will continue to undergo tests in the coming days.’
The new Ligue 1 season has already begun but PSG’s fixtures were delayed in order for the players to recover after the Champions League final.
As it stands, PSG’s fixture against Lens will still go ahead but the match could be postponed if a fourth player from the French champions is tested positive for Covid-19.
‘I am staying at PSG next season,’ Neymar told PSG Le Mag.
‘I remain and with the ambition to return to the final of the Champions League, this time to win it.
‘I like this idea of doing everything to leave my name in the history books of my club.’
