Heartland FC secured a 2-0 victory over Rivers United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
After a goalless first half, the deadlock was broken in the 62nd minute when Chinedu Molokwu found the back of the net, giving Heartland a 1-0 lead. The hosts doubled their advantage in the 74th minute through a goal by John Okoro, sealing the win.
In Lafia, Nasarawa United defeated Niger Tornadoes 2-0 to claim all three points. The home side took the lead in the third minute through a penalty converted by Anas Yusuf. Yusuf then doubled their advantage in the 69th minute with Niger Tornadoes unable to break through the hosts defense throughout the match.
Ijoma Antoine and Maxwell Kangeshima ensured Akwa United returned home empty handed as their goals secured a 2-0 win for Abia Warriors in Umuahia.
Kano Pillars were held to a goalless draw at home by Bayelsa United while Shooting Stars also played out a 1-1 draw against Plateau United in Jos.
