The 18-year-old arrived from Penarol last month and has featured for the Under-23 side but has not yet played for the senior side.
The winger had a couple of seasons in the Uruguayan top flight with Penarol but needs time to adapt to English football, especially the physical side of it given his slight stature.
Solskjaer insists his development is coming on nicely, but it will still take some time before he is unleashed in the first team.
‘He’s a young boy coming over and it’s all new for him,’ Solskjaer told the official Manchester United website. ‘He’ll need a few games in the Reserves, of course, to try to find his feet in a new country.
‘It’s been very positive so far and he’s someone we’ll be patient with and we’ll give him time to settle in and get used to us.
‘You’ll see him in the Reserves, probably in the next game.’
‘It was “welcome to England!” quipped Wood in his post-match interview after the 2-1 win. ‘But it was great for him to get 90 minutes on the pitch and a first taste of English football. I’m sure he can build from this experience.’
Brandon Williams played in the same game and added: ‘Facundo’s done very well since coming in. He doesn’t speak that much English but he’s learning. He’ll kick on from this and I’ll be here to help him if I can. I enjoyed playing with him.’
