Solskjaer is currently the highest-scoring Norwegian player in the history of the Champions League with 20 goals during his time at United.
John Carew is second on the list with 18 goals, while Haaland is third with 16 goals combined for Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.
And Solskjaer believes the 20-year-old striker, who he managed at Molde and has tried to sign for United, will comfortably surpass his record.
‘He’ll beat it and very quickly, that’s for sure,’ said Solskjaer.
‘The boy has had a great start to his career.
‘It was really good to work with him, to see the potential in him, and some part of me feels proud of having a little bit of an input in such a rise.
‘I’m sure Erling will score loads in the Champions League.’
‘The quicker you can qualify, the better of course,’ said Solskjaer.
‘With a win we’ll win the group, that’s our intent, we want to go out there in our style [with] attacking intent, defending well against a top team with some top individual players.
‘But our mindset is, ‘win this game and we’ve won the group’.’
