Nigeria’s Super Eagles have breathed new life into their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali.
Their first win in the qualifying series has moved them to fourth position in Group C with six points from five games.
Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has vowed that the team will go all out for maximum points in their remaining five matches, starting with their next game against Zimbabwe on Tuesday.
“We are ready. The remaining matches are wars, and we must fight them with all that we have to win.”
Captain William Troost-Ekong echoed Osimhen’s sentiments, warning Zimbabwe not to expect a favorable result:
“We read somewhere that the Zimbabweans are being motivated to come to Uyo and get a result. They should forget it. We are hugely motivated by the ambition to play at the FIFA World Cup.”
Troost-Ekong emphasized the hunger within the squad to reach football’s biggest stage:
“We are hugely motivated by the ambition to play at the FIFA World Cup.”
A win for Nigeria against Zimbabwe will be a significant step towards achieving their goal of qualifying for the World Cup.
