United are targeting a move for the 23-year-old as an alternative to Jadon Sancho as Borussia Dortmund remain unwilling to sell the England international.
Dembele had initially wanted to remain at Camp Nou for another season despite interest from both United and Liverpool.
But according to L’Equipe, Dembele has now changed his mind following a conversation with Pogba about a potential move to Old Trafford.
The report claims that Dembele asked Pogba about United, as well as life in Manchester, and the French winger is now sold on the idea of joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Reports in Spain also claim that during their conversation, Pogba told Dembele that he would get more playing time at United which would boost his chances of securing a place in France’s squad for the European Championship next summer.
Dembele and Pogba were both in France’s squad for their victory at the World Cup in 2018.
According to L’Equipe, United are looking to open negotiations with a €50 million (£45.3m) offer.
ESPN also report that United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, is pushing to sign Dembele on loan which would include an option to buy.
However, Barcelona are unwilling to allow Dembele to leave on loan and are only interested in selling the French winger on a permanent deal.
Barca are willing to take a hit on the initial €105m (£96.8m) they paid to sign Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in August 2017.
‘There is no conversation with Manchester United,’ he said.
‘We have Dembele. We hope that this year he can give his best. Ronald Koeman already said that we hope we can enjoy him.’
