United have reportedly opened discussions over a potential deal for Dembele as an alternative to Jadon Sancho.
The England international has been United’s first-choice target this summer but Borussia Dortmund are standing firm over their €120 million (£108m) asking price and reiterated this week that they do not plan to sell the winger.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have also reportedly expressed an interest in Dembele with Jurgen Klopp a huge admirer of the 23-year-old.
However, speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano claims that Dembele has made it clear to both United and Liverpool that he wants to remain at Barcelona.
Romano claims that Klopp was ‘convinced’ that Liverpool could agree a loan deal with Barcelona, which would include an option to buy, but Dembele wants to spend another season at Camp Nou.
Dembele has been hampered by injuries since he joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in a £135.5m deal in 2017.
The French winger made just nine appearances last season and it appeared that Barcelona were willing to offload him this summer, with reports claiming that the Spanish club were asking for a €100m (£92m) transfer fee.
In response to Dembele’s constant hamstring problems, Barcelona’s medical staff have constructed a tailored plan in order to minimise the winger’s risk of suffering another injury setback.
