Haaland notched his first international hat-trick this week, as Norway thrashed Romania 4-0 in the Uefa Nations League, to maintain his ridiculous scoring form.
Since joining Borussia Dortmund in January he has banged in 17 goals in 14 Bundesliga starts, while he notched 10 goals in last year’s Champions League.
He was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United before he decided to join Dortmund and reportedly remains one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top targets.
Scholes has made no secret of his admiration for the Norwegian striker and has called for United to abandon their pursuit of his Dortmund team-mate Jadon Sancho and focus their efforts on signing Haaland instead.
The United legend thinks the sky is the limit for the lethal frontman and suspects he could go on to reach the levels hit by Messi and Ronaldo.
‘I think Haaland is sensational,’ Scholes told Stadium Astro.
‘I think he’ll he will be up there with your Ronaldo’s and Messi’s levels possibly from what I’ve seen so far.
‘That’s why I just never felt Sancho was the right type of player because we’ve got three of that type of player already.
‘Look, he’s a brilliant player and he’ll probably improve any team but I just didn’t think there was the need for him this year.’
