An already confidence starved Arsenal side were comprehensively beaten by their local rivals following first-half goals from Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.
Mikel Arteta’s side have now lost five of their 11 games so far and lie in 15th place in the table following their worst ever start to a Premier League season.
Aubameyang’s own displays, meanwhile, have deteriorated rapidly and even Arteta’s decision to restore him to his favourite central role have failed to spark a return to the goalscoring form which persuaded the Gunners to offer their skipper a new long-term contract in the summer.
The Gabon international is without a goal from open play since the first game of the season, but the former Borussia Dortmund star insists he will not hide in a bid to galvanise his team and kick-start Arsenal’s season.
He wrote on Instagram: ‘Don’t hide, Everyday question yourself, work, Never give up!! this is how we do!!’
Arteta is currently under pressure to save his job following a disastrous run of results and his cause was hardly helped on Sunday after Aubameyang’s agent openly criticised him on social media.
The former Manchester City assistant coach had previously been supportive of his struggling talisman and vowed to do everything within his powers to get him firing on all cylinders again.
‘How important Auba has been for this club in the last two years and how the goal sheet has been shared among the squad tells you his importance.
‘He needs to be scoring goals if we want to be successful.’
