Aubameyang and Martinez both played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s FA Cup success last season, but the Argentine goalkeeper left the Gunners to join Villa this summer.
Martinez returns to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as Villa travel to Arsenal in the Premier League.
And Aubameyang has revealed that his former Arsenal teammate has already tried some light-hearted mind games if Mikel Arteta’s side win a penalty during Sunday’s match.
‘The last time we played them was really difficult, and maybe it will be even more difficult this time.
‘They’ve also got Emi in there as well now so it will be a tough game, for sure.
‘They always come looking to win which means we will have to manage the game well and keep the high level of intensity that we had against Man United last week.
‘I’m looking forward to seeing Emi again. I’m sure he knows some things about me from training so often together – but don’t worry about that!
‘But Emi is a great keeper and a great guy as well.
‘Actually it was funny because he sent me a message that said, ‘maybe you will get a penalty against me but I will save it.’ I said, ‘OK, be ready for the chip then.”
