Nigeria Premier Football League reigning champions, Remo Stars, have adopted a temporary ground ahead of the new football season while their default stadium undergoes a major facelift.
Remo Stars, pending the completion of the renovations, will play their home matches at the newly renovated MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
The reigning champions announced the adoption of the MKO Abiola Stadium in a statement via its X page on Monday.
Due to ongoing renovations at our stadium in Ikenne, the club can confirm a temporary home ground MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta Come through, make some noise, and let’s turn Abeokuta into a fortress together! A return home is, however, imminent.
The MKO Abiola Stadium hosted the Nigeria Sports Festival and the 3rd Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) U18/U20 Championships recently.
Remo Stars will take on last season’s first runner-up, Rivers United, in their first match of the season on their adopted ground as they begin their title defense on August 22nd.
The Sky Blue Stars are also likely to host Comoros side Zilimadjou in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round at their adopted ground.
