Rennes want Chelsea to include Fikayo Tomori as part of their deal to sign Edouard Mendy, according to reports in France.
Frank Lampard’s side are understood to be closing in on a £25.7 million move for the 28-year-old goalkeeper.
Rennes initially asked Chelsea to offer €40 million (£36.8m), plus Olivier Giroud on loan for the season, for Mendy.
Chelsea, however, rejected the deal as Lampard wants Giroud to remain part of his squad.
According to Telefoot, Rennes remain keen on signing a Chelsea player on loan and their latest request is for Tomori to be included in the deal.
The 22-year-old, who is also wanted on loan by Everton, could struggle to secure regular playing time this season following Chelsea’s decision to sign Thiago Silva on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
Tomori is also competing for a place at the heart of Chelsea’s defence with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma.
Lampard, meanwhile, insists he is ‘very happy’ with Kepa Arrizabalaga, despite the Spaniard’s mistake which led to a goal in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Brighton on Monday evening.More: UK
