Saha thinks it’s impossible to compare the job Arteta is doing at Arsenal to what Solskjaer is doing at Old Trafford and pointed out that the likes of Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal had failed to deliver the title during their spells as United manager.
Wright believes Solskjaer should be doing more with the players he has at his disposal.
Speaking on his podcast Wrighty’s House, he said: ‘Can I just say something, I’m just going to blast it in: If Arteta is managing Man United they are challenging.
‘Look at what Arteta has done in his time at Arsenal. We’re seeing coaching change, we’re seeing coaching on the field, we’re seeing impact. Look at Elneny, came out of the blue, found him and said, “He can do this for me, he can do that for me”. He’s making the parts work.
‘I’ve not seen in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time up to this point something that says, “Okay I can see it, I can see what he’s trying to do there”.’
But Saha thinks it’s impossible to compare the two managers and insists ‘Manchester United is not Arsenal’.
Asked about Wright’s comments, Saha told Stadium Astro: ‘It is his opinion. We are all here, we can comment. It’s easy.
‘We don’t know what it’s like to be at Manchester United in this era.
‘Maybe David Moyes can answer this or Mourinho. When I look at it from an external point of view, I think there is more problem of structure – so, above.
‘Do I feel sometimes you need to have someone who can help in terms of the mentality and challenge people who feel comfortable? I don’t see this. There is kind of something missing.
‘I can recognise this on the field. You will always question a young manager who has proved it at other clubs but not of this stature.
‘If you look at Arteta’s pedigree and the actual results he’s bringing Arsenal. He’s got a different club to manage.
‘It’s easy to compare. Manchester United is not Arsenal, I’m sorry. You don’t have the same fans, you don’t have the same competition to play with. It’s different.
‘Football is not a simple science. No, it doesn’t work. One of the best managers was Mourinho. I’m sorry, he hasn’t done it.
‘Van Gaal, better pedigree, he hasn’t done it. They’re best managers and they couldn’t do it. Why? There are other factors.
‘They had the recruitment, they had the players and they didn’t do well.’
