Manchester City will be without Sergio Aguero for their Champions League clash against Marseille after the Argentine was left out of the squad that flew to France today.

The striker returned from five months out in City’s 1-0 win against Arsenal last week but he lasted just 45 minutes in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against West Ham on Saturday and was replaced by Phil Foden at half-time.

Aguero is believed to have suffered a hamstring strain but City are yet to put a timeline on his return, which is a concern with Gabriel Jesus currently sidelined.

The former Atletico Madrid ace wasn’t the only missing face as Nathan Ake was also absent from the 20-man squad that jetted to the south of France.

City are looking to build on their win against Porto on matchday one and Raheem Sterling could be given a central role in the absence of a recognised striker.

There was better news on the defensive front as Aymeric Laporte has been deemed fit enough to travel but it’s unclear if the Frenchman will be given a starting berth.

Manchester City’s squad: Ederson, Steffen, Carson; Walker, Dias, Stones, Zinchenko, Laporte, Cancelo, Garcia, Harwood-Bellis, Gundogan, Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Foden, Nmecha, Doyle, Bernabe, Sterling, Torres, Mahrez, Palmer
