Super Cup: 3 reasons why Barcelona destroyed Real Madrid

Barcelona claimed their first trophy of the season, cruising to a 5-2 victory against their fiercest rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.

Here are three reasons why Barcelona secured the big win against Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.

Barca’s Unstoppable Attack

From the first whistle, it was obvious Barcelona had no intentions of sitting back, as they swarmed Madrid’s defenders, pressing high and forcing mistakes.

Despite going behind, they were relentless and the combination of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski proved too much for the shaky defense of Real Madrid to handle.

Midfield Domination

Barcelona’s midfield trio were superior despite not having the stardust of their rivals. The inclusion of Gavi added extra bite to the midfield, and Pedri was as composed as ever.

Casado’s vision and passing range complemented the duo perfectly. It was an excellent performance that carried on even after they went down to 10 men.

Flick Outcoaches Ancelotti Again

Hansi Flick’s tactical masterclass proved too much for Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid, as Barcelona secured a resounding victory. This was the second time this season that Flick has outcoached Ancelotti, following the 4-0 win last November.

Flick’s ability to adapt and innovate was on full display, as he cleverly exploited Madrid’s weaknesses and nullified their attacking threats.
