Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru made his Europa League debut on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
The youngster would score a goal and provide an assist for Lazio as they beat Dynamo Kyiv 3-0 away from home to start their group campaign.
Dynamo Kyiv 0-3 Lazio
Because of the ongoing situation in Ukraine, Kyiv began its UEFA campaign on neutral ground at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.
After Dynamo failed to clear the ball well, Boulaye Dia broke into the area and scuffed a low effort into the far bottom corner five minutes into the game.
In just 120 seconds, Lazio scored two goals, first, a subpar clearing by Volodymyr Brazhko was intercepted by Matias Vecino, who then gave Dele-Bashiru the opportunity to fire into the net.
A few moments later, Dia was given a completely clean header into the near top corner after a deft move as Dele-Bashiru crossed from the right.
Pedro was unlucky not to make it 4-0 for Lazio 60 minutes into the game as his shot was deflected onto the inside of the far post.
After Maksym Braharu appeared to be going for the ball and slipped on Mattia Zaccagni’s ankle, Dynamo Kyiv was reduced to ten men in a highly contentious situation.
Dele-Bashiru was substituted for Tijjani Noslin in the 79th minute as Lazio held on for the three points.
