Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Boniface scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
In a matchday two Champions League fixture at the BayArena, Boniface scored the only goal as Bayer Leverkusen defeated AC Milan.
After their convincing win against Feyenoord to start their Champions League campaign, Leverkusen recorded a massive scalp against one of the European giants.
Victor Boniface scores 1st Champions League goal
Despite not scoring in the first match against Feyenoord, the 23-year-old was crucial to the victory.
Earlier in the first half, he had originally struck the ball into the top corner, but the VAR disqualified it.
In the 51st minute, Mike Maignan parried a rebound attempt by Jeremie Frimpong, and Boniface scored the game’s only goal.
In just his second Champions League game, Boniface scored his first Champions League goal against the Rossoneri.
His goal came as Nigerians home and abroad celebrated the 64th Independence Day of the country.
Boniface was substituted for Martin Terrier in the 75th minute by Xabi Alonso in preparation for the Holstein Keil encounter this coming weekend.
