Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi’s scored a goal in the first half to help secure Nottingham Forest first Premier League win since 1999 as The Reds defeated West Ham United 1-0 at The City Ground on Sunday afternoon.
The former Union Berlin attacker made his first start of the season after being subbed on in their first game which they lost to Newcastle in matchday one. The record signing gave them the lead during added time in the first half after Toffolo went on a surging run into the penalty box before finding Lingard, the former United man had a mis-hit shot which fell luckily for Awoniyi via a ricochet to convert the loose ball from close range and score The Reds first Premier League goal at The City Ground since Chris Bart-Williams’ winner against Leicester City in May 1999.
Nottingham Forest will take on Everton next Saturday and the former Liverpool man will be hoping to continue scoring more crucial goals to hopefully keep The Reds in the Premier League for another season.
