Tottenham have begun talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the sale of Dele Alli, according to reports.

The England international’s future at Spurs was thrown into doubt after it emerged Tottenham had offered Real Madrid the chance to sign Alli in their efforts to land Gareth Bale.

Tottenham did secure the loan signing of Bale without having to offload Alli, but transfer speculation around the midfielder has continued.

Jose Mourinho appears ready to sanction Alli’s exit and has left the 24-year-old out of his last two matchday squads.

Alli did not travel Bulgaria for last Thursday’s Europa League tie against Lokomotiv Plovdiv, but even more surprisingly Mourinho left him out again for the game against Southampton.

After the successive snubs from Mourinho, the Telegraph claim PSG are hopeful they can sign Alli before the close of the transfer window on 5 October.

PSG are long-time admirers of Alli and could try to agree a loan deal with Tottenham.

Inter Milan are also keeping close tabs on Alli, who is under contract at Spurs until 2024.

Alli’s slump in form in the last year has since him lose his place in the England squad and will not play Champions League football this season if he stays at Spurs.

Mourinho was asked if Alli had an injury before the Southampton match, but confirmed he was fully fit.

‘We have a huge squad, a squad with numbers that are very difficult to manage,’ he said.

‘I never had it, I don’t like to have it and it’s not easy for me. I start with Son, with Lucas and with Harry Kane and on the bench I still have Moussa Sissoko, Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn.

‘We have too many players for some positions and some of them are paying the price for this.’
