Former Flying Eagles striker Gift Atulewa has passed on according to verifiable sources online.
Gift Atulewa reportedly died due to high blood pressure at the aged of 38.
Atulewa was part of the Flying Eagles team that finished second at the 2005 edition of the FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Netherlands.
The striker played alongside former Super Eagles captain Obi John Mikel, John Owoeri, Taiye Taiwo, Daniel Akpeyi among others.
He was fondly remembered for missing one of Flying Eagles spot kicks in the dramatic 10-9 win over host, Netherlands via penalties.
Atulewa played in the Nigerian league for Warri Wolves and Bayelsa United and Ocean Boys during his active days.
Gift Atulewa becomes the third player to pass on from the 2005 Flying Eagles set after Olufemi Adebayo (2011) and Isaac Promise (2019) who captained the side under coach Samson Sia Sia.
