Matchday 2 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage delivered tense finishes, red cards and crucial away victories on Wednesday night.

Atlético Madrid 0–1 Manchester United

Manchester United made it two wins from two with a gritty performance in Spain. Fridolina Rolfö scored the only goal in the 24th minute, steering home after a flicked cross. The match turned fiery when Dominique Janssen was sent off in the first half following a VAR review, leaving United down to ten. Atlético were later reduced to ten themselves when Alexia Fernández picked up a second booking, but the hosts piled on pressure late on. Goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce produced several vital saves to secure the win.

Bayern Munich 2–1 Juventus

Bayern earned their first points of the campaign in dramatic fashion. Pernille Harder headed Bayern into an early lead, but Juventus equalised six minutes later through Eva Schatzer’s curling free-kick.

The match appeared destined for a draw until stoppage time, when Lea Schüller bundled in a 94th-minute winner after a VAR check. Bayern struck the post and missed several chances earlier, making the late goal a relief as much as a celebration.

Paris Saint-Germain 1–2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid continued their perfect start with a composed performance in Paris. Nina Feller opened the scoring before Alba Redondo added a second just before the break. PSG responded through Rasheedat Ajibade in the second half but could not find an equaliser despite sustained pressure. Madrid now top their group with maximum points.

Benfica 0–2 Arsenal

Arsenal bounced back from their opening defeat with a controlled win in Lisbon. The breakthrough came in the 57th minute when Beth Mead forced the ball over the line after a scramble initially ruled an own goal.

Alessia Russo sealed the result late on, finishing from a well-worked free-kick routine involving Chloe Kelly. Arsenal dominated territory but lacked cutting edge in the first half, making the second-period improvement decisive.
