Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle has called up Belgium-based defender Jordan Torunarigha to replace Nathan Tella ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
Nathan Tella was an unused substitute as Bayer Leverkusen crashed out of the Champions League after losing 5-0 on aggregate to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
Torunarigha didn’t make the 23-man list released on Tuesday but now has the opportunity to join up with the rest of the squad.
The 27-year-old center-back is no stranger to the national team as he made his debut in Super Eagles 3-2 win over Mozambique in a friendly in 2023.
Jordan Torunarigha plays for Gent in the Belgium Jupiler League and has been consistent for the side this season.
The left center-back has played 33 matches in all competitions this season for Gent.
With Torunarigha’s inclusion, the nunber of defenders in the squad increases to seven ahead of fhe qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
