Super Eagles Team B – the CHAN Eagles will earn close to $4m if they emerge champions of the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship.
The competition will be hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda next month.
The CHAN Eagles qualified for the tournament for the first time since 2018 with a 3-1 aggregate scoreline win over the Black Galaxies of Ghana in December.
In a bid to add more spice to the tournament meant for the growth and development of talents based on the continent, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday 7 January announced a 75% increase in prize money for the winners of this year’s competition.
Previous winners of the competition got $2m but the winner on February 28 will earn $3.5m.
CAF also announced that the worth of the competition also increased by 32% which means the competition is now worth $10.4m.
The football governing body made these announcements on its website on Tuesday.
The CHAN Eagles will get to know their opponents in the group stage on Wednesday 15 January at the draw for the competition in Nairobi, Kenya.
