The Gabon international started in a 3-1 win against Olympiacos on Thursday but he surprisngly named on the bench for the visit of Jose Mourinho’s side to the red side of north London.
Questioned on Aubameyang’s absence, Arteta told Sky Sports: ‘He was going to start the game but we had a disciplinary issue. We have drawn the line and we move on and he’s on the bench.’
Asked if he could elaborate, Arteta said: ‘No. Obviously we keep that internally. We have a process that we have to respect for every game and that’s it.’
With Arteta refusing to divulge, the Athletic claim Aubameyang was dropped as he was late to report to the stadium on matchday.
It’s claimed it’s not the first time that Aubameyang has been late this season and that he’d already been warned about his time-keeping by Arteta.
The Gabon captain was disciplined earlier this season for failing to undergo a Covid-19 test before a Europa League tie, while Arteat was furious that Aubameyang broke lockdown to get a tattoo inked on his arm earlier this year.
Spurs took the lead through a fantastic strike from Erik Lamela at the Emirates but Arsenal drew level just before the break when Martin Odegaard saw his effort deflect in off Toby Alderweireld.
