Jose Mourinho has expressed his concerns about Victor Osimhen’s behaviour on the pitch, suggesting the Nigerian striker has a tendency to dive.
Osimhen has recently joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli, setting up a direct rivalry with Mourinho’s Fenerbahce for the Turkish League title.
Mourinho, who took the job in June after being sacked by AS Roma, has a history with Osimhen, having faced him in previous encounters.
Mourinho slams Osimhen for diving
“The last time we played against him during Roma vs Napoli, I had this conversation with him,” Mourinho revealed in an interview with HT Spor.
Mourinho confronted Osimhen, saying;
“You are one of the best players in Africa, alongside Salah, and you come from a lineage of greats like Drogba, Eto’o, and Weah. You can’t be diving.”
Despite his criticism, Mourinho acknowledged that Osimhen is an exceptional player, adding, “He dives too much, and that’s my problem with him, but after 10 minutes, we’re fine.”
Osimhen was at his goalscoring best, finding the net in Nigeria’s 3-0 win over Benin Republic to remind fans of his sharpness and his new employers of what they can expect to witness every week.
