Erik ten Hag has spoken up for the first time since being sacked as Manchester United manager, penning a heartfelt message to the fans.
In a touching tribute, Ten Hag thanked the supporters for their unwavering backing during his two-year tenure.
“Dear fans, Let me start by thanking you. Thank you for always being there for the club,” he wrote.
Ten Hag cherished the electric atmosphere at Old Trafford, crediting the fans for their unrelenting support. “‘The atmosphere at Old Trafford has always been electrifying, thanks to you. I felt it many times.”
He also praised the fans’ presence in away games, noting how it boosted the team’s morale.
“Also in away games, it gave the team and me an incredible feeling to hear the United chants taking over the opponents’ stadiums, whether the game was in England, Europe or during the summer tours.”
Ten Hag fondly recalled his interactions with fans worldwide.
“I always enjoyed meeting Manchester United fans throughout the world… You inspired me and radiated a strong sense of unity. That’s what makes United supporters so special.”
Despite his departure, Ten Hag expressed his well-wishes for the club. The Dutchman led United to FA and EFL Cup victories during his time at the helm.
