Fulham’s deadline-day swoop for Samuel Chukwueze has generated excitement among fans eager to see the Nigerian winger light up Craven Cottage.
Yet, beneath the hype lies a risk that the deal could backfire. Here are three reasons why Chukwueze may struggle to make a lasting impact in West London.
1. Patchy Form at AC Milan
Chukwueze arrives in England with question marks over his consistency. During two seasons at AC Milan, the 25-year-old registered just eight goals and six assists in nearly 70 appearances—a modest return for a player signed to add flair and creativity.
His flashes of brilliance were overshadowed by long spells of anonymity, raising doubts over whether he can deliver week in, week out in the Premier League.

2. One-Dimensional Playing Style
Blessed with blistering pace and a wicked left foot, Chukwueze thrives when cutting inside from the right. But his overreliance on his stronger side makes him predictable. Serie A defenders quickly adjusted, often forcing him wide where his weaker right foot limited his end product.
Add to that his minimal defensive contribution, and there are concerns about how he’ll cope in a league where wide players are expected to both attack and track back.
3. Timing and Fit at Fulham
The move to Fulham was sealed in the frantic final hours of the transfer window, a season-long loan with a purchase clause attached. Such late deals often pile pressure on players to adapt instantly, and Chukwueze will have little time to settle before being judged.
