Super Eagles’ Samuel Chukwueze is on the verge of completing a move to Premier League side Fulham from AC Milan in a deal said to be around €25 million.
Fulham are reported to be keen on the move as the Cottagers look to strengthen their attacking options on the right flank.
Chukwueze’s spell at the San Siro has been topsy-turvy, with limited game time and managerial changes within the last few months.
This post examines three reasons why the 26-year-old winger should join the West London Club.
1. Consistent Game Time
One of the challenges Samuel Chukwueze faces at AC Milan is the limited game time he gets, even though he makes it to the matchday squad when fit to play. The winger often comes on as a substitute in a highly rotated Milan side.
However, a move to Fulham will see Chukwueze get into Marco Silva’s first eleven alongside his Super Eagles teammates: Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, as the team appears to be in dire need of a right winger.
2. Playing Style
While at Villareal, Samuel Chukwueze was one of the most exciting wingers in the league with memorable performances against top sides, including Real Madrid. The winger, given the style of play. expresses himself on the pitch without holding back. Unfortunately, the winger has struggled to replicate this at AC Milan to an extent, given the tactical rigidity of the league.
Marco Silva’s Fulham thrives on quick attacking transitions with very mobile wingers running through the flanks and channels – this will suit Chukwueze’s style of play, as he would not struggle to blend into the team.
3. Chemistry with two Super Eagles
Samuel Chukwueze, should the move to Fulham materialize, will not struggle to settle into the City, and life off the pitch, given he already has two national team colleagues in the team. The on and off the pitch chemistry between Iwobi, Bassey, and Chukwueze will come in handy for the Super Eagles, especially as they prepare for the crucial World Cup qualifiers and in subsequent national team assignments.
