As Nigeria gears up for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), all eyes are on the home-based talents selected to represent the country.
With a squad made up entirely of players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the tournament offers a platform for local stars to shine on the continental stage.
Among the 23-man squad, three standout players—Junior Nduka, Godwin Obaje, and Anas Yusuf—are poised to play key roles in Nigeria’s quest for CHAN glory.
1. Junior Harrison Nduka — Centre‑Back & Team Captain (Remo Stars)
Nduka is firmly Nigeria’s defensive leader, chosen to captain the Super Eagles B side. He anchors a backline filled with NPFL talent, bringing vocal leadership, aerial strength, and tactical maturity.
He featured prominently in both the 35-man provisional list and the final 23-man squad for CHAN 2025.
2. Godwin Obaje — Striker (Rangers International)
Obaje is Nigeria’s premier home‑based forward in the squad. Known for his clinical finishing and intelligent runs, he was among those retained from the preliminary list into the final squad. His goal-scoring instincts make him a key figure in Nigeria’s attacking ambitions at CHAN 2025.
3. Anas Yusuf — Forward (Nasarawa United)
Leading the offensive line alongside Obaje, Yusuf also retained his place in the final 23-man squad. An effective NPFL goalscorer, he brings movement, pace, and composure in the box—offering a strong domestic option to anchor Nigeria’s forward thrust in the tournament.
Nigeria begins its CHAN 2025 campaign in Group D, facing defending champions Senegal, along with Sudan and Congo, in matches scheduled across Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam.
