Lamine Yamal has been named as the winner of the Golden Boy award after his starring role for Barcelona and Spain in 2024.
The award recognises the best talents in Europe aged under 21 and is handed out by Italian magazine, TuttoSport voted by a group of 50 journalists.
Barcelona made the announcement in a post on X and also posted pictures of Yamal holding the award.
Yamal established himself as a regular in Barcelona first team playing 50 matches across all competitions at just the age of 16. He was also an integral part for Spain in Euro 2024 win, scoring a goal and rendering four assists as they went on to win the tournament, beating England in the final.
The Barcelona man, who turned 17 in July, becomes the youngest-ever winner in the history of the award. He beats the previous record held by his Barcelona team-mate, Gavi, who won in 2022 at the age of 18 years and 77 days.
