Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have appointed experienced Nigerian coach Salisu Yusuf as their new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Yusuf’s appointment, effective August 14, 2026, comes as the Oluyole Warriors prepare for a campaign that will see them compete in both the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the CAF Confederation Cup.
He replaces Nurudeen Aweroro, who recently left the club by mutual agreement.
Shooting Stars said Yusuf’s “wealth of experience, deep understanding of Nigerian football, and proven ability to work with and develop homegrown talent” made him the right man to lead the team into the new season.
The 64-year-old coach brings more than two decades of managerial experience to Ibadan. He began his coaching career with Nasarawa United in 2002 and has since managed several leading Nigerian clubs, including Kano Pillars, Enugu Rangers and Enyimba.
Yusuf joins Shooting Stars after spending the 2025/26 season with Benin Republic side Coton FC, whom he guided to a second-place finish in the league.
At international level, Yusuf has served as an assistant coach of the Super Eagles and led Nigeria’s home-based national team to the final of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
His immediate task will be to build on Shooting Stars’ impressive 2025/26 campaign, which saw the club finish third in the NPFL and secure a return to continental football for the first time in 27 years.
Yusuf’s first competitive assignment will come in the NPFL season opener against newly promoted Inter Lagos, with Shooting Stars also set to balance their domestic ambitions with their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
