The Black Maidens of Ghana defeated the Flamingos of Nigeria on penalties to win the 2024 WAFU U-17 Girls final.
Getrude Amoafo gave the Black Maidens the lead in the 14th minute. Priscilla Mensah double the lead in the 19th minute, much to the delight of the home crowd.
The Flamingos pulled one back in the 34th minute through Precious Oscar as the Ghana had the advantage going into the half-time break.
In the second half, the Flamingos mount pressure on the hosts in search of an equalizer. The breakthrough came in the 78th minute as Harmony Chidi found the back of the net to make it 2-2.
With neither side able to find the winner in regulation time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout.
Despite their spirited comeback, Nigeria lost 5-4 in the penalty shootout as Ghana claim the WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup.
