Darwin Nunez’s brace in added time gave Liverpool the win over Brentford on Saturday evening as the Reds continue their title charge.

The Uruguayan striker came on as a second half substitute as Arne Slot tried to change his side’s approach after struggling to break down the home side.

Dominik Szoboszlai almost gave the Liverpool the lead as he released a ferocious strike from range but it came off the bar to the surprise of the Hungarian midfielder.

Cody Gakpo had the best chance of the first half after he was played through on goal by Mohammed Salah.

Unfortunately, the Dutch winger directed his attempt on goal way off target as the home side survived a fast break.

While Liverpool dominated proceedings, Brentford had pockets of chances but not strong enough to trouble Alisson in goal or keep the Reds under the siege.

With less than five minutes to go, the Reds finally got a breakthrough through Darwin Nunez who met Trent Alexander-Arnold cut-back was with a one-time strike.

Nunez found himself in a little space in the crowded Brentford box and smashed the ball into the middle of goal to give Liverpool the lead.

Brentford immediately sought to respond but left their defense open to Liverpool’s attack and the Reds took as advantage.

Federico Chiesa latched on to a counter attack move, found Harvey Elliot in space who then layed a sublime pass to Nunez in the box.

The Uruguayan striker calmly picked his spot and smashed the ball into the roof of the net to give Liverpool a 2-0 win with little or no time for a Brentford response.
