Michael Olise opened the scoring just before halftime with a stunning strike. Early in the second half, Harry Kane doubled the lead, capitalizing on a Joshua Kimmich corner.
Celtic’s Daizen Maeda pulled one back in the 79th minute, but despite late pressure, Bayern held firm to take a slender advantage back to Munich for the return leg.
Elsewhere in France, Benfica secured a vital 1-0 away win against Monaco in their Champions League playoff first leg.
Vangelis Pavlidis netted the decisive goal in the 48th minute with a delicate chip over the goalkeeper. Shortly after, Monaco’s Moatasem al-Musrati was sent off following a second yellow card, leaving the hosts with ten men.
Despite enjoying more possession, Monaco struggled to create clear-cut chances, and Benfica maintained their lead to carry a crucial advantage into the second leg in Lisbon.
